This is what it’s about

Saturday, the Powerhouse church threw a beautiful banquet celebrating the elderly and handicapped in the neighborhood.  My team (I was home sick) went out with our Vito (Mercedes donated one of their vans to us for the year) and picked up the honored guests.  I was disappointed to miss out on that opportunity, but the way this church gives to the marginalized, I am convinced we will do it again.  In fact today, we already delivered food to the homes of many that came on Saturday, and I was able to meet several of the characters that I heard about in stories.  David, with the amputated leg and a couple teeth, has yet to stop smiling since they gave him a “new” walker.  He lives at the same house with 3 gogos (means “grannies” in Zulu) over 80 years old, of which 2 are blind, and all can barely walk.  The slide show above are pictures of us visiting and praying with them.

I know what you’re thinking…wow, how admirable to be doing such work.  Ha, if you only knew…the admiration goes to Jonas, Maria, Nkele, etc…the many members of the Powerhouse that give all of their spare time to minister like this daily.  You should see them greet with a hug, laugh, emphathize, sit with, hold hands, listen to, and pray for the suffering (whether physical, emotional, etc) like I can imagine Jesus would.    Meanwhile, I find myself standing to the side, quiet, observing, learning and amazed.

Yes, these pics ARE amazing, and no, I did not take them.  This is what you have been missing out on if you have not been clicking on the link above called “Mamelodi Stories”.
