Business Course Begins
“The place where God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”‘ Frederick Buechner
Tuesday, Rebecca and I began teaching our Entrepreneurship/Small Business Development Course. We have 7 students in our M, T, TH class, and I hear a larger group is signed up for our Saturday course. Rebecca and I are elated to be given an opportunity to teach and are excited about our group of motivated students. Motivation is easier to find when there is 23% unemployment in the country, and a typical wage (housekeeper, manual labor, etc.) is $10-$12/day. It’s a matter of survival for many.
Most of our students have an existing business (selling plates, cookies, catering), but want to learn how to better market themselves and their business. We will also work with them on bookkeeping, budgeting, pricing, personal finance, developing a business plan, etc.
After looking at this picture, I guess it just struck me how humorous it is that “Will” is teaching business to a group of African women. There are a couple guys in there 20’s, but they are hidden in the picture.
