Football & Picnic
Mandla, Vincent’s son, escorted us to a South African professional football (soccer) game Saturday night. The tickets were only $2.50, and we were definitely the only light-skinned folks around. Quite the cultural experience! Today, over 100 people in the church traveled to a private lake/picnic area in the country, had church, played soccer, frisbee, etc, and had a braai (bbq) with chicken, boerewors (like brats), pap (fluffy grits?), & gravy. There were 40+ kids under 13 years old, a number of them are either orphans or come to church by themselves. It was incredible time to get to know the kids and build a bond with them…we were there for over 7 hours! Time is defined differently here. More on that later.
Vincent and I will meet tomorrow to discuss the potential of a small business course for the community.
FYI-this post were for those who like numbers & details! Stories, etc to come.
A precious girl that captured my heart at the picnic…her grandmother brings her.
